How to furnish a one-room apartment: interior design

In the apartments of panel houses and typical "Khrushchev", where there is only one room, the lack of space is almost the norm, especially if more than one person lives in the room. Living space "odnushki" rarely exceeds 14-18 square. m, and the total - 35-50 meters. Before furnishing a one-room apartment, it is necessary to study in detail the recommendations on its improvement, allowing to make the interior as comfortable as possible for living, cozy.

Features of a one-room apartment

The main feature of "odnushek" is that in a small area you want to place a bedroom, living room, dining room, and sometimes even a nursery and office. The space is required to expand visually, as far as possible, and to arrange it in such a way that every person living in it will be comfortable. It is especially difficult to design a room of an elongated shape well - unlike a square one, its shape will need to be slightly corrected.

If there is such an opportunity, redevelopment into the “studio” is done - in a separate room with a door, then it turns out that there is only a bathroom. In the presence of a warmed balcony, a loggia, they are also attached to the main room - only the glazed window-door unit is removed or part of the wall is completely disassembled. It is important to use every centimeter, corner, niche.

When redevelopment is planned, it is recommended to create a project before it starts, indicating all elements, dimensions.

Basic principles of arrangement

To make an apartment as comfortable as possible for living, you need to adhere to some recommendations:

  • take into account the number of tenants, their age, gender. A room for one person will be very different from an apartment for a family with children;
  • redevelopment. Getting rid of internal walls or moving them helps to optimize the space, depending on the desired result;
  • changing the direction of opening doors, replacing them with sliding doors or completely eliminating them;
  • the use of multifunctional furniture. It will be a sofa bed, a table-wardrobe, folding chairs, a mobile wardrobe-bar, a bunk design for one or two, where the workplace is arranged below, the bedroom is upstairs;
  • visual expansion techniques. With the help of light tones, mirrors, light effects, the apartment seems a bit larger.

To place everything you need in a cramped apartment, you will have to use its space completely - from floor to ceiling.

Proper zoning

When zoning "odnushki" is required to separate the sleeping area from the hall - both of these places will have to settle in the same room, arrange separately. In the case of a studio apartment, the furnishings of a single room also include a dining room with a kitchen. When planning a dwelling in which two adults with two children temporarily live, or a parent with two or three children, provides a spacious kitchen, the nursery should be arranged in the indoor space, and the adult bedroom in the kitchen.

Zoning is done using elements such as:

  • screens - they are fenced off the bed, dressing room, mini-office. The main advantage of this element is mobility. The design is easy to fold-fold, not taking up much space in any form;
  • plasterboard partitions - they cannot be easily, quickly removed, but installing such a wall is simple, cheap, as well as giving the necessary configuration (arched, rounded, angular, perforated);
  • curtains and curtains - such a transparent element is suitable for a purely symbolic zoning, more dense - to create a dark, comfortable sleep of one family member, while the other will go about their business under the light;
  • furnishings are cabinets with a mirrored back wall, through racks placed at right angles to the wall. Sometimes, on the back of the cabinet, a slate board or narrow shelves will be stirred;

  • podiums are a convenient example of zoning. On it compactly have a bedroom or mini-office, kitchen or dining room, and in drawers of the platform equip storage for various things. The greater the height of the ceiling, the higher is allowed to make the podium;
  • sliding partitions or doors - occupy a minimum of space, perfectly separating part of the room. Glass, transparent plastic or metal sheets, thin plywood, fiberboard, depending on what result is needed, are used as the barrier material.

Inexpensive and beautiful, you can arrange a one-room home, even just getting rid of all the excess, making only minor repairs.

Stylistic decoration of the apartment

For cramped housing, not all design styles are suitable. Such luxurious options as baroque, empire, art deco are unacceptable - they require large areas to accommodate heavy, good-quality furniture, abundantly decorated with textured carved decor. Loft is not desirable to use - such interiors imply large open spaces, high ceilings, a large amount of air. The Scandinavian style is suitable, but it is difficult to fully reveal it in a cramped apartment.

The best options are:

  • minimalism;
  • neoclassical;
  • ecological;
  • Japanese;
  • high tech;
  • functionalism;
  • Provence;
  • retro;
  • modern.

For minimalism, translucent sliding partitions are used, Japanese-style folding screens. In high-tech, the expansion of space is achieved through large mirrors, and the ecological one is made in natural colors, almost merging with the background outside in the summer. But most apartments are rarely made out purely in the same style: a light retro-style dining group is placed in the modern interior, neoclassics are diluted with Chinese characters on the wallpaper, and Provence, decorated with delicate tones, is complemented by neon lighting in the futuristic style.

The choice of colors, finishing materials

For any small rooms, pale pastel colors are preferable. Contrasts should not be many - just a few small elements of decor, which are not too cluttering the interior. At the same time, it is not recommended to decorate the entire room with color schemes (white, gray, pink, beige, etc.) - this is boring and not too beautiful.

It is better to finish small apartments using two or three colors, in accordance with the rules of the "golden section": the base tone here will occupy 60-65% of the space, the secondary one - up to 30-35%, another one (if available) - no more than 5 ten%. The floor is necessarily made darker than the ceiling and walls, except when the ceilings are very high - then it is allowed to issue them with a dark color scheme.

The most suitable two-color combinations:

  • agate gray with pear;
  • vanilla with light olive;
  • tracked with melon;
  • pale yellow with apple green;
  • steel with coral;
  • amaranth pink with beige;
  • soft blue with mustard;

  • herbal with violet;
  • cornflower blue with snow white;
  • beaver with purple-pink;
  • pistachio with khaki;
  • Perdal orange with peach orange;
  • pearl with tea green;
  • Canary with cream;
  • lavender with honey;
  • mint and orchid;
  • golden with light blue.

When decorating an apartment in color, it is important to consider where its windows go - if to the north and west, then only warm, light tones are used, when the side is south and east, colder, more saturated colors are permissible.

Rules, secrets of lighting

With the help of well-placed light sources, even the smallest apartment can be visually made more spacious.

The basic rules are:

  • the use of multiple light sources - ceiling chandelier, a lamp on the walls, decorative lighting;
  • each place has its own light. Separately highlight the working area in the kitchen, the place where they eat, the table for working at the computer, the sleeping place, especially if you plan to read in bed, the dressing area. In the bathroom, a light fixture is mounted above each sanitary fixture;
  • the color and intensity of the luminous flux for different places is different - where it is planned to read, write, prepare food, white, daytime, bright is preferable. In a place designed for sleeping, watching TV, relaxing, eating, less bright, warm lamps are mounted;
  • the shape of the lighting fixtures, their shades, is chosen appropriate for a certain interior style. For classics fit lamps, stylized torches, candelabra, minimalism - spherical or cubic, modern style can be decorated with chandeliers and sconces of the most intricate configurations.

With the help of light, it is easy to correct the shape of an elongated room: if you highlight its long walls and shade short ones, the room will take on a look closer to the square. When the ceiling is low, the top and bottom of the room are illuminated, and when it is excessively high, ceiling lights are generally refused, in favor of wall sconces.

Storage system

The smaller the area of the apartment, the more questions arise where and how to put all the things. This is especially true if the family has children. In many old apartments there is a storage room or closet, with an area of up to four square meters, which is problematic or impossible to combine with the room.

In such a place they usually organize a dressing room - they install rods with hangers, pantographs, shelves, and place boxes, boxes.

Convenient storage boxes are built into the sofa, the podium, placed in the corner cabinet of the hallway. In the presence of a loggia, almost everything is stored there - clothes, shoes, a vacuum cleaner, skis, carpentry tools, a book-table, winter blankets in the summer, etc. In any niche, you can also organize a storage system.

Convenient places for all sorts of things are arranged under the window sills, on the compact corner shelves, and also above the doors.

Functional furniture, the rules of its placement

The furnishing of a cramped dwelling is made as versatile as possible, but not excessive - the extra details only clutter up the small room, hindering free movement. In search of a fundamentally new solution for one-room space, it is desirable to take out all the furniture from it or not to buy a new one before making a clear decision on the subject of room reorganization. If you need a lot of furniture items, they are placed next to each other.

Before buying furniture, it is desirable to make measurements of the room - the furniture should fit into the available space so that movement on it is not problematic. In the presence of a child, he is given the brightest, warmest place devoid of drafts, which is also distinguished by color - a brighter, “more cheerful” one. When there are more than one children, they get a bunk bed or equip a room on the podium.

The choice of a particular furniture must be agreed between all family members.

Hall / Lounge

In the room "odnushke" you want to place both the hall and the bedroom. From the furniture here put:

  • cabinet or rack - roomy and tall, often used as a zoning element;
  • bedside tables, dressers - narrow, compact are selected, the TV stand is made in the form of a narrow console;
  • the bed is a full-fledged double in a cramped room that does not fit, because it is replaced with a wardrobe bed, a loft bed, if the height of the ceiling allows. If you want to organize several places to sleep, one of them comes out of the podium, the second is placed on top of the platform;
  • a sofa - on it you can both sleep when laid out and receive guests, watch TV when the structure is folded;
  • table - computer and toilet can be the same subject. The role of lunch in the "studio" is played by the bar counter. Foldable shelves often also serve as a table, as is an extended window sill;
  • armchairs - it is desirable to abandon them, except for the options of armchairs. Sit on folding chairs and ottomans.

Kitchen

The kitchen in a studio apartment is often separated by a cupboard, a rear wall turned towards it, a fixed, folding or folding bar counter, which also serves as part of the dining area. A close-up kitchen set is made to order, a bit already standard. Stove, refrigerator, washing machine also need the most compact. The sink is often placed above the washing machine, the microwave oven is on the shelf, the window sill is used as an additional cutting surface. In the corners organize pull-out sections, carousel for storing dishes, table linen.

Hall / corridor

An integral attribute of the front - a mirror. It can be relatively small, allowing only to apply makeup or occupying most of the wall. The hallway is often combined with a room, separated only by a wardrobe, which stores almost all clothes. The shelf for all small things here is replaced by a narrow console, under which put a pouf.

Bathroom

A bathroom in a one-bedroom apartment is usually also very cramped. Split is sometimes combined - it adds space to several tens of centimeters, allowing you to put a washing machine or a tiny dressing table. In the joint bathroom "Khrushchev" the bath is always very small, because many people replace it with a shower, the toilet and the sink are suspended, as compact as possible. Lockers for storage of detergents, bathing accessories are located high under the ceiling, choosing corner designs. Under the bath you can also fold something.

Errors that should not be made in the interior of small apartments

In a small apartment it is recommended to use all existing methods of expanding the space. So that the only room does not seem too cramped, the furniture should not be arranged along the walls, as it was fashionable thirty years ago, but 15-30 cm away from them. This option simplifies cleaning, visually making the room more spacious.

To make a home not only comfortable, but also to look stylish, it is saved from old bulky, but inconvenient furnishings - giant “walls”, incomprehensible bedside tables, and lamp tube TV stands, which are miserable to throw, although they have not been used for a long time. All this is replaced by modular, transformable structures.

It is important not to overload your house with excessive decoration, voluminous draperies on all surfaces, to over-zone the room.

Conclusion

Beautiful design of a one-room apartment is easy to make with your own hands or with the participation of invited designers. A lot of interesting design ideas appear daily in popular glossy magazines of the corresponding orientation, as well as on Internet pages. Arrangement of "odnushki", for the most part, is less expensive than a similar repair of a spacious dwelling, a little time is also spent here.
